Description
Eric Ravilious for Wedgwood.
A beautiful plate from the Garden design series of ceramics.
From the Garden design series Ravilious was asked to produce for Wedgwood in the late 1930s.
The war meant that production for the Garden design got going after materials again became available in the 1950s and this piece dates from 1954.
The images and pictures he designed are so evocative of a late Summer’s or Autumn day in between the wars England.
Ravilious was all too well aware that times were changing quickly and all too soon such activities and experiences would become less commonplace.
Offered here in superb original condition and backstamped with its original Wedgwood markings.
It really is an absolutely delightful piece.
